How 2.45 GHz Microwave Body Contouring Works

Microwave energy at 2.45 GHz is selectively absorbed by water molecules in fatty tissue. Because adipose tissue contains more free water molecules than surrounding muscle and connective tissue, microwave energy produces disproportionately greater heating in the fat layer — a phenomenon analogous to the selective photothermolysis principle used in laser medicine, but applied to dielectric heating.
